Anitkabir

Anitkabir, the Mausoleum of Atatürk, is located on Anittepe, a hill with a wide angle of vision to every side of Ankara. Completed in 1953, it is an impressive fusion of ancient and modern architectural styles. Covering approximately 750.000 m2, the mausoleum is divided in to two parts as Peace Park and Monument Block. Atatürk and the War of Independence Museum is under the hall of Honor where the Mausoleum stands. The first section of the museum is Atatürk Museum where Atatürk's personal belongings are exhibited. In the second section by means of a new technique using war tools and small models, the hardships towards the Republic of Turkey are reflected on three panoramas, which represent Çanakkale and Sakarya Battles and the Great Attack with a three-dimension impact. The third section consists of the thematic exhibition sites placed in 18 arch vaults located in the corridor surrounding the panorama section.
